A unique doubleheader will take place Tuesday, Sept. 21 when the Indiana High School and IUP volleyball teams will play their matches at Memorial Field House on the IUP campus. This is the first time ever that the local high school and college teams will be playing in the same venue on the same night.

The Indiana junior varsity and varsity teams will take on Greensburg Salem, with the JV match beginning at 4 p.m. Following the Indiana-Greensburg Salem varsity match, the Crimson Hawks will play Wheeling Jesuit beginning at 7 p.m.

Admission for the entire set of matches is free. It will also be a “Black Out Night” for the IUP volleyball team, with all fans encouraged to wear black in support of the Crimson Hawks.

Indiana is off to a 5-0 start and has won its last 29 section matches. The Indians, under head coach Malinda Oesterling, have won their section and qualified for the WPIAL playoffs the past three seasons and were just one win away from advancing to the state playoffs last season.

IUP has won its first eight matches heading into a series of PSAC crossover matches Friday at East Stroudsburg and Saturday at Lock Haven. Zach Shaver is in his fifth season as the head coach and is looking to lead the Crimson Hawks into the NCAA tournament for the first time since his first season in 2006.
