SPECIAL NOTICE TO TAILGATERS
It is a pleasure to welcome you to the IUP campus and to thank you for supporting the IUP football team and our great University.
For your convenience and enjoyment at home football games, the parking areas in the Stadium South Lot are specifically designated for tailgating. No tailgating is allowed inside or on the roof of the IUP Parking garage. Remember, tailgating prior to home football games is a privilege and not a right. For legal and safety reasons, we ask you to adhere to the following stipulations to provide a safe and enjoyable environment for all guests:
- Tailgating lots will open three hours prior to the start of the game and close approximately one hour after the conclusion of the game.
- You are required to clean up your own tailgate area and place all trash and recyclables in the appropriate receptacles near your area.
- Use of motorized vehicles, including golf carts, mules, gators, motorized skateboards, etc., is prohibited.
- Use of University electricity for tailgating is prohibited. Recreational generators with noise levels that do not exceed 80 Db are allowed in the immediate tailgate site.
- Pets are not allowed to run at large in tailgating areas, or on University property, and must be leashed at all times. Additionally, animals may not be left unattended or secured to private vehicles or University property. Clean up after your pet.
- The possession or consumption of alcoholic beverages is permitted by individuals 21 years and older while in the designated tailgating area. The use of alcoholic beverages by guests at IUP events is at all times subject to the alcoholic beverage laws of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. Please always use a designated driver and consume alcohol responsibly.
- Plastic bottles and aluminum cans are allowed. Glass containers, kegs and beer bongs are prohibited.
- Commercial activity and/or solicitations are prohibited in the tailgate areas. Designated areas for these activities are available via registration with the IUP Athletic Department.
- Any person or group damaging University property will be responsible for the cost of repairs. Intentional damage may be charged as a crime.
- Driving or parking private vehicles in greenspace or no parking areas is prohibited. Persons, tents, tables, or any other tailgating-related objects may not obstruct drive lanes in the parking lots, sidewalks or pedestrian walkways.
- Small propane grills are allowed, but fryers, charcoal grills, open fire pit devices or fires built on the ground are prohibited.
- All individuals must respect the rights of others using the tailgating area. Police officers will ask fans to leave the area immediately if they are disruptive, disorderly, present safety problems, or violate University policies and laws of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. Smoking and vaping are allowed as long as the smoke/fumes are not causing inconvenience for nearby guests.
- Amplified or loud music, bands, DJs or other similar setups are not permitted in any tailgating site.
- Season-long tailgating spots can be purchased prior to the season by contacting the IUP Athletic Department.
- Participation in athletic activities such as throwing footballs, frisbees, etc., will be limited to areas away from buildings, including fields, vacant spaces outside the highly congested parking area, and the hotel property.
- The use of hotel property is reserved exclusively for hotel patrons. Tailgating and recreational activities are limited to IUP parking lots and fields adjacent to the stadium.
- Tailgaters are encouraged to contact IUP Police at 724-357-2141 when another tailgate party becomes a nuisance of loud music or behavior that interferes with other guests. The University reserves the right to refuse service or access to anyone at any time – behavior in violation of tailgating rules will result in the permanent loss of parking and tailgating privileges.
- IUP is not responsible or liable for accidents, damage, loss or theft of materials/items/personal property at tailgating sites.
Thank you for your cooperation in complying with these guidelines. Our primary objective is to assure enjoyable visits to the IUP campus for all fans during our football season.
