USA Today/ESPN Division II Coaches Poll
LILBURN, GA - The IUP women's basketball team remains ranked 18th in the nation in the latest USA Today/ESPN Division II Top 25, as it was announced by the Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) on Tuesday.
The Crimson Hawks stay steady despite a 1-1 week, following up a 71-45 loss to third-ranked Edinboro by going on the road and rallying from 14 down to defeat Mercyhurst 59-55 in overtime on Saturday. They're now 14-2 overall on the season and sit in a tie for second place with Gannon, ranked 20th, in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Western Division with a 10-2 record.
IUP received 207 points, 76 behind Emporia State (KS) for 17th and 31 ahead of Florida Southern, which came in 19th. The top three in the poll remained the same, with California - San Diego in first, Clayton State (GA) in second, and Edinboro still in third. Metro State (CO) and Bentley (MA), respectively, round out the top five.
The Crimson Hawks return to the court on Wednesday when they host Lock Haven at the Kovalchick Complex. Tip-off is set for 5:30 p.m.
