INDIANA, PA - As part of their continued efforts to serve the Indiana community, IUP student-athletes joined forces over the weekend to take part in the Fitness for a Cause event at East Pike Elementary School on Friday, April 21.
The Crimson Hawks volunteered at various stations throughout the day in an effort to promote the importance of exercise for children. The event was designed to create opportunities for children to exercise and learn the benefits of a healthy lifestyle.
Fitness for a Cause was coordinated by Leanne Jack, a physical education teacher at East Pike Elementary and member of the IUP women's basketball team from 1985-1989. In 2010, Jack was named the National Project Fit America All-Star Teacher for her dedication to improving the lives of her students and community.
The IUP Athletic Department is dedicated to giving back to the Indiana Community, and IUP student-athletes strive to make a difference in their neighborhood.
