INDIANA, PA – The IUP men's golf team added the 2013 Pennsylvania State Junior Amateur Champion to its roster, as Mike Hoare signed his national letter of intent with the Crimson Hawks.

Hoare won the 2013 Pennsylvania State Junior Amateur Championship in July, shooting a 140, finishing four strokes ahead of the second place finisher.

A senior at Cumberland Valley High School, he was the lowest scorer for the Eagles' varsity golf team for the past two years.

Hoare was selected by the Pennsylvania Golf Association as part of a four-member team representing Pennsylvania in the Williamson Cup, a mid-Atlantic event regarded as one of the most prominent junior events in the nation. He was also voted by the Central Pennsylvania High School Golf Coaches to the Bill 11 All-Star Team.

Planning to major in marketing in the Eberly Business Honors Program, Hoare will join the Crimson Hawks in the fall.
