MILLERSVILLE, Pa. – IUP forwards thrived as junior
Megan Smith (Blain, Pa./West Perry) and sophomore
Brittany Robinson (Harrisburg, Pa. /Central Dauphin East) netted 17 points apiece to lead the Crimson Hawks to a 61-47 victory over Millersville on Wednesday night.
The win was the 12th straight for the Crimson Hawks, who are tied atop the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Western Division with a 10-0 league record. The win streak is the second longest under head coach
Tom McConnell since winning 13 straight during the 2014-15 season.
Robinson went 7-of-11 from the field and 3-of-3 from the foul line, adding seven rebounds and six blocked shots to her stat line. Smith shot 7-of-15 from the field and grabbed five boards.
The Crimson Hawks (12-2) forced Millersville into 19 turnovers, converting those into 19 points. Junior guard
Halle Denman (Beaver Falls, Pa. /Blackhawk) had five steals, her seventh straight game of at least three swipes.
It was the seventh time this season that IUP opponents have failed to score 50 points in a game. IUP came into the night ranked fourth in Division II by allowing just 52.5 points per contest.
